Galway Gaeltacht host families are set to benefit from a share of a newly announced €2.2 million support fund.
Galway Senator Pauline O'Reilly says the allocation will go some way towards easing the burden on accomodation providers in the west who have been hit by another summer of Irish college closures.
In total, up to 700 families across the country's Gaeltacht regions are set to benefit from the stabilisation fund for summer college accomodation providers.
As this is the second year that summer colleges have been cancelled due to the pandemic, the subsidy has increased by 25%.
This means that a payment of €5 per student will be provided - up from €4 in 2020.
Galway Senator Pauline O'Reilly says it's vital that Gaeltacht families are supported through this difficult period.
