Galway conference to hear how cost of living is impacting recruitment of teachers

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A conference in Galway today is to hear how the cost of living crisis and rising accommodation costs are causing havoc in the teaching profession.

It's one of the key messages at the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals' three-day meeting - at the Galmont Hotel in the city

The Association says it is being left with a massive hangover of issues to deal with - following the covid pandemic as well as the rising cost of food, fuel and housing.

NAPD President Rachel O'Connor says the difficulty in recruiting teachers is proving to be detrimental to the profession.
