Galway Bay fm newsroom - Members of the Riverside community in Galway city have come together to remember the Kurdish family who died in a multi vehicle crash on the M6 last week.
Karzan Sabah, his wife Shahen and their eight month old daughter Lena died in the incident on Thursday night near Ballinasloe.
The family had been living in Riverside in Galway city for several years, where Karzan had been completing a PhD in Agriculture at NUI Galway.
Up to 25 residents of Riverside and members of the Kurdish community gathered at the family's home yesterday for a short prayer service.
Local Councillor Alan Cheevers who attended the gathering says locals wanted to pay tribute to the family who had lived among them.
Polish national Jonas Adam Lach, a resident of Portumna also died in the collision.
Minister Ann Rabbitte says locals there are also coming to terms with the circumstances that led to the tragic loss of four lives....
