Galway Bay fm newsroom - The CEO of Galway 2020 has moved to reassure city councillors that the project will reach its seven million euro sponsorship target.
The designation has been embroiled in controversy following a string of resignations, and concerns raised by the artistic community over funding and communication issues.
CEO Patricia Philbin addressed a special meeting of Galway City Council where she acknowledged the group is behind in sponsorship but is engaging with the business community, and has formed a sub-committee, in an effort to reach targets.
She added that the board is looking at its structure in terms of expertise as work is ongoing to fill two vacancies.
