From Galway Bay FM newsroom- Further visiting restrictions are being imposed at UHG due to outbreaks of COVID-19 and flu.
Two wards are now impacted by outbreaks of flu, while a further two wards are dealing with outbreaks of COVID.
Visiting to the affected wards is limited to compassionate grounds only and these visits must be arranged in advance with management.
Visiting to all other wards at both UHG and Merlin Park is restricted to one visit by one individual daily from 6pm to 7pm unless on compassionate grounds.
Separate arrangements are in place for access to the maternity department for nominated support partners.
It comes as UHG is also under considerable pressure in recent weeks with very high levels of presentations at the Emergency Department and significant overcrowding.
General Manager at UHG, Chris Kane, says the double bank holiday weekend could also prove very challenging.
