Further delays to South Galway flood relief scheme

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The early stage of vital flood relief works planned for South Galway have suffered another major delay.

That's according to the South Galway Flood Relief Committee, who say the project feasibility phase is already a year behind schedule and will now be delayed a further 6 months.

The original delay was due the gathering of data for the generation of computer models of the region's topography, and additional work in the public consultation process.

However, the committee say they have not been informed of the reason for the new delay in the process.

Spokesman for the South Galway Flood Relief Committee, David Murray, says hopes for works to begin in 2020 have been dashed.
