Funding now in place for Turoe Stone protective structure

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Funding is now in place from the OPW to build a protective structure around Turoe Stone near Loughrea

Work on the structure will get underway early next year, and it's planned to have it in place for the beginning of the tourist season.

The structure will be constructed on a site near the well-known Pet Farm, owned by the Corcoran Family who have been the artefact's custodians for years

It will have the necessary environmental and temperature controls to protect it from the elements and prevent any deterioration

Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon has emphasised the importance of the two thousand year old artefact
