Funding for flood protection works in Ballinasloe

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Funding has been approved for flood protection works in East Galway.

The announcement follows a visit to Galway by the OPW Minister to discuss planned flood defence schemes in the city and county.

Minister Patrick O'Donovan has approved 54,000 euro of funding in total for Ballinasloe.

36,000 euro has been allocated to Aughrim for the cleaning of existing drains and the upgrading of the piped network in Aughrim.

The remaining 18,000 euro has been allocated for replacing and upsizing an existing culvert and the cleaning of open drains at Lissard, Kilconnell.
