Galway Bay fm newsroom - Funding has been awarded for major projects which aim to rejuvenate and strengthen the centre of six Galway towns and villages.
The largest allocation of €200 thousand will support the development of a digital innovation hub in Claregalway.
The funding is part of a national allocation under the Government's Town and Village Renewal Scheme, which has delivered almost €80m in funding to over one thousand projects since 2016.

It'll see the construction of an extension to Claregalway Leisure Centre and the development of a 10-desk digital innovation hub.
€100 thousand will go to Leitir Móir, to compete the first phase of a new community park, and repurpose the community hall to offer ICT facilities.
A further €100 thousand will go towards village enhancement works in Belclare - these will include traffic calming, pedestrian crossing, public lighting, signage and outdoor seating.
In Portumna, €100 thousand will allow for the upgrading of a pedestrian path, cycle parking and the provision of gazebos for the Lough Derg Cottage Market.
While in Castleblakeney, €100 thousand has been allocated for an outdoor recreation area including a childrens playground, outdoor gym, walking routes and car parking.
Finally, €90 thousand has been awarded for the upgrade of the heritage centre in Creggs - this will include a remote working hub, covered seating, outdoor cinema and band stand.
