Galway Bay fm newsroom - Gort is one of the first towns in the country to be awarded Government funding for the development of a targetted plan to rejuvenate the town centre.

The allocation of €100 thousand has been made by the Department of Rural and Community Development under the national "Town Centre First Plans".
The plans look to address factors that prevent people living in town centres such as buildings, amenities, public realm, infrastructure and services.

Minister Heather Humphries has today announced the first wave of funding worth €2.6m to develop plans for 26 towns nationwide, including Gort.
Galway East Fine Gael Deputy Ciaran Cannon says this plan is a significant development for the future of the town.
