Galway Bay fm newsroom - 38 county community groups are to share funding of 143 thousand euro.
The grants have been allocated under the Community Enhancement Programme to benefit medium and small-scale community projects.
Medium-scale projects to benefit will receive 15 thousand euro.
These include The Mall Theatre, Tuam to re-roof and waterproof the building; Mullagh GAA club to extend and refurbish its community centre and Dunmore Tidy Towns for the provision of a pathway/cycleway.
Small-scale projects inlcude Claregalway Drama Festival, Lackagh Museum and Community Development Association, and Gort Cancer Support Group Ltd.
In the city, 29 projects will share funding of over 132 thousand euro.
Those set to benefit include Galway Contact, and organisation for older people, which is to receive over 23 thousand euro to purchase an accessible bus.
St. James GAA club is to receive 19 thousand euro for clubhouse renovation works, while Croi na Gaillimhe is to receive over 11 thousand euro for an energy efficiency upgrade.
