At a meeting of the Athenry-Oranmore district, Councillor James Charity first raised the long-running issue of horses wandering on the road.
He expressed dismay when told that Transport Infrastructure Ireland has turned down proposals to install fencing - and the council is instead exploring the creation of exclusion zones for animals through bye-laws.

Councillor Charity is also voicing concerns about delays to plans to widen the N84 between Ballindooly and Clonboo.
