Galway Bay fm newsroom - There are fresh concerns in Galway as the level of COVID cases has again risen to the second highest in the country after Dublin
41 new cases were reported to the Health Protection surveillance Centre last evening, which was second only to Dublin's 262
Galway has had 362 new cases in the last 15 days, with a high number understood to be linked to social gatherings
The city and county had been on a downward trend this month with new cases dipping to 12 per day at one stage, but the cases are now rising.
However, despite the sharp rise in cases, Galway's incidence rate of the disease remains mid-table at 124, well below the average of 150 per one hundred thousand population
Offaly's rate is highest at 350 while Leitrim's rate is lowest at 34
Chair of the State's modelling group, Professor Philip Nolan says the increase in the number of people going to workplaces is contributing to the stagnation in daily case numbers.
