Galway Bay fm newsroom - A delegation from the Regional Health Forum West will meet the Health Minister in the coming weeks.
The four person group had hoped to meet with Simon Harris when he visited UHG last week.
At this week's Forum meeting, Tuam area councillor Mary Hoade questioned officials on what commitment has been made by the Minister regarding funding for the ED since his visit.
She said walking away after condemning the overcrowding situation is not good enough.
Chief Operating Officer Ann Cosgrove said the replacement ED is on the capital programme and the programme for Government, however no monies had been allocated.
She said since Minister Harris’ visit, funding has been approved to proceed with the design stage in 2017.
The Forum delegation will meet the Minister in Dublin on March 21st.
Councillor Hoade said action is now needed to ensure the new ED moves forward.
