Galway Bay fm newsroom - Forecourt Operator Maxol plans to have electric charging points at six city-centre located service stations including Galway by the end of the year.
It's part of the firm's 100 million euro upgrade to its service station network in Ireland as it shifts the focus of the business from fuel to convenience.
The company owned by the McMullan family currently has a network of 231 stations in Ireland - with 6 in Galway, including 2 in the city.
According to today's Irish Times, the firm has also signalled its on track to post a double-digit profit growth for 2018 - which would leave it with a pretax profit for the year of over 15 million euro.
Maxol currently generates about 60 percent of its turnover from fuel sales with the remaining coming from food services.
The firm plans to have six Maxol stations in city centre locations in Dublin, Cork and Galway with electric charging points by the end of this year.
