Galway Bay fm newsroom - Fire crews in Connemara were kept busy throughout the night as they tackled serious gorse fires in Baile na hAbhann.
Several units of the fire service responded to calls early yesterday evening and spent over twelve hours at the scene attempting to bring the blaze under control.
The last unit from Carraroe Fire Station left the scene shortly before 8 o' clock this morning.
Despite the extensive blaze, there was no threat to neighbouring property and no-one was injured.
