Galway Bay fm newsroom - Fire crews were called to tackle a blaze in Barna overnight after a house was struck by lightning.
Two units of the fire service responded to calls at around half past one this morning - a short time after heavy thunderstorms erupted across the county.
They spent just over two hours hours at the scene bringing the fire under control.
A number of lightning strikes were reported across the city and county overnight - and Met Eireann is warning there may be further thundery showers this morning.
