Fine Gael City councillor Clodagh Higgins is one of the three candidates selected to contest Galway East in the General election.
The Athenry native was chosen last night in New Inn along with Abbeyknockmoy county councillor Pete Roche and Portumna auctioneer Niamh Madden.
With sitting TD Ciaran Cannon not returning, the now 4 seat constituency poses a huge challenge to the party, despite the extra seat.
Pete Roche was unsuccessful in the 2020 general election, while Clodagh Higgins and Niamh Madden are newcomers to the county political scene.
The party can still add other names to the ticket ahead of the expected election in November.
