Galway Bay fm newsroom - A man has been released without charge and a file is to be sent to the DPP over the death of a man in a stabbing incident in the city.
39-year-old Christoper McGrath died after being stabbed at a house on Cardinal Cushing Road in Mervue at around 4 o'clock yesterday morning.
A man in his 60s, from the city, was arrested in connection with the incident - he was released without charge from Mill Street station a short time ago.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any altercation involving men between 12 midnight and 4am on Sunday to contact them and a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Christy McGrath, who's not a city native but from County Galway, is understood to have lived at the house where the incident took place.

It says Mr. McGrath, who was well known in running circles, was a talented and committed athlete who always gave his best to the sport.

The statement pays tribute to 39 year old Mr. McGrath as a hugely keen, enthusiastic, and competitive runner who always gave his best.
It says the committed athlete competed with Galway City Harriers throughout his juvenile career and who won numerous titles at underage level in the 1990s.
In his later years, he competed at senior level in cross country and road races at regional and national level for Galway City Harriers and Galway County.
Among the highlights of his career are a win at the Connacht Intermediate Cross Country in St Mary's in 2012 - and a top 50 national senior cross country finish in Tullamore in 2013.
Galway Athletics and GCH wishes to express it's condolences to Mr. McGrath's family and friends - as well as the many athletes across the county who grew up with, coached, trained and raced with Chris over the years.
