Galway Bay fm newsroom - Fianna Fail's spokesperson for health is calling on Minister Simon Harris to clarify reports that only a small number of student nurses at UHG will be offered employment once they graduate.
Senator Keith Swanick, who is also a doctor, has criticised the Minister for Health, who last year said that all nursing and midwifery graduates would be guaranteed a job.
It's understood 70 students at the Galway hospital - who are due to graduate in the coming weeks - were told last week there are only 25 job vacancies available to them.
Senator Swanick says this is outrageous considering the HSE is in the midst of the biggest recruitment and retention crisis.
