Galway Bay fm newsroom - Ferry companies serving the Aran Islands are calling on the government to ensure next year's budget supports the development of Inis Oírr Pier.
Following a meeting held this week, Island Ferries, Doolin 2 Aran Ferries, Doolin Ferries and cargo service Lasta Mara Teo all highlighted the danger of overtopping waves breaching the pier.
The ferry companies serving the Islands, along with islanders, are calling on Gaeltacht Minister and Galway West TD Sean Kyne to ensure that funding for this project is included in the exchequer for 2020.
Manager of the Community Development Co-op on the Island, Máire Uí Mhaoláin says the pier is a lifeline for the island and its development could be a matter of life or death.
