Fears Rusheen Bay will be lost as iconic watersports amenity

Galway Bay fm newsroom - One of Galway's most unique watersports amenities is up for sale and risks being lost forever unless immediate action is taken.

That's according to campaigners, who have concerns developer interests will purchase Rusheen Bay Windsurfing School at auction this month.

The school - located west of Salthill - has been closed since October 2017 and will go under the hammer at an asking price of €200 thousand on Friday, July 20th.

Campaigners have launched a crowd-funding effort in order to purchase the school and preserve it as a non-profit, community watersports amenity.

They argue Rusheen Bay is a 'perfect' learning environment that has introduced thousands of children and adults to a wide range of water-based activites since 1991.
