Galway Bay fm newsroom - There are fears that more transport services could be affected when next week's Bus Eireann strike begins.
Bus Eireann is planning to reduce some services nationwide including the 20 and X20 route from Dublin to Galway from March 12th.
The company says any staff impacted by the announcements will be redeployed.
Siptu and the NBRU say their members at the company will stop work from Monday as a result of the cost-saving measures being introduced by Bus Eireann.
It's thought that other workers, such as those in Irish Rail, which share some depots with Bus Eireann, may choose not to pass pickets.
It's understood school bus services will not be affected.
Industry Correspondent with the Irish Times Martin Wall believes the potential for escalation is 'very real', which could pose a problem for the government.
