Father of teenager struck by firework in Rahoon/Knocknacarra makes heartfelt appeal for witnesses

The father of a teenage girl, who was hospitalised after a firework struck her in Rahoon/Knocknacarra, has made a heartfelt appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The incident, which left the 14 year old with a serious injury to her right eye, happened at Millars Lane, shortly before 8 on Halloween night.

Lauren, who goes to school at Salerno, is back in UHG today, and her father Patrick McGowen says he and his wife Sinéad are still in limbo, as doctors are unable to give them a full prognosis.

The family live in Moycullen, and Patrick says Lauren, who is their only child, is very active and plays camogie with Rahoon/Newcastle.
