Galway's Road Policing Unit is appealing for drivers to slow down as latest figures reveal fatalities on roads in Galway accounted for a quarter of all deaths on Irish roads last month.

August was the deadliest month on our roads in more than 9 years after 24 people died.

The Road Safety Authority has described the death toll as deeply concerning.

6 of the 24 deaths on our roads last month occurred in County Galway.

Sergeant Ronan Mahon of the Galway Roads Policing Unit is appealing to drivers to behave responsibly when behind the wheel.
