Galway Bay fm newsroom - Roscommon/Galway TD Denis Naughten says farmers may be suffering a loss of income due to inaccurate beef grading machines.
According to figures obtained by the Independent Deputy, inspectors have found the accuracy of such machines have been down by at least 10 percent on 119 occasions over the last 18 months.
He says despite this mechanical grading was suspended on only 8 of those occasions.
Deputy Naughten claims that if a grading is inaccurate, farmers may lose 168 euro per head for their cattle.
He says new hi-tech beef grading machines are needed.
