Last week, shoes and socks believed to belong to Stephen were discovered near a lake several miles from the area, prompting fresh searches by Garda and army units.

His family are now appealing for volunteers this weekend, with searches to set off from Maam Cross at 9.30am on Saturday and Sunday.

Speaking to Galway Talks, Stephen's sister Aoife says they want to make one big effort to find him and bring him home.
