Galway Bay fm newsroom -12,500 jobs and investment of €1.4bn in the West over the next 15 years - the projected impact of the AcademyWest expansion being launched at Galway Technology Centre this morning.
It aims to address capacity issues, and enable the centre to become an even greater focal point for the expanding tech cluster throughout Galway and the West of Ireland.
It'll bring the total size of Galway Technology Centre to 72,000 square foot, and increase the number of floors at the facility from two, to four.
Galway Technology Centre, based at Mervue Business Park, was established in 1994 as a social enterprise in the wake of the closure of Digital Equipment Corporation.
Since then, it's supported over 300 companies and more than 3 thousand jobs.
This morning, it's marking it's 25th anniversary with the announcement of the AcademyWest expansion.
Participants in the event - which gets underway at 11.30am - include Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar.
