Galway Bay fm newsroom - The overall quality of water for Galway city and county's public supplies in 2018 was high with over 99% compliance with microbiological and chemical parameters.
That's the finding of the EPA Drinking Water Quality in Public Supplies Report for the period.
At the end of 2018, 10 boil notices were in place nationwide, including one in Galway where almost 250 residents in the Kilconnell area were impacted.
A solution has now been agreed which involves a 400 metre piped connection which will be laid to connect the supply to Cappataggle group water scheme.
The EPA has seen detections of Cryptosporidium in 25 public water supplies nationwide in 2018.
