Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway Educate Together Secondary School has secured an interim location for its new term in September.
The school opened at its base at Grianach House in Merlin in 2019 with 39 students.
Its numbers have been capped at 48 each year.
The Department of Education has confirmed that following discussions with the Educena Foundation, they are agreeable to the leasing of the former school building in Newtownsmith.
This would involve a term of five school years.
The first two school years the building will be occupied by Galway Educate Together Secondary School and the following three school years it will be used for a decant for a major primary school project in Galway.
Galway West Fianna Fáil TD Eamon O'Cuiv says it's a huge relief for the secondary school as demand for places continues to increase.
