Major bookseller, Eason, is facing a legal action from the landlord of the Shop Street store in Galway City.
According to the Irish Independent, the case is understood to be an escalation of a rent dispute - linked to the financial impact of the ongoing pandemic.
The bookseller sold the Shop Street property last year for 7.5 million euro - and entered a 25-year lease with rent of 525,000 euro per year.
It's understood the lease is secured by parent guarantee - which means the landlord has a claim if Eason falls into arrears.
While public details of the legal action don't say why it's being taken - it notes the action is for summary judgement - meaning it has been taken over money owed.
