Eamon Ryan describes new cable between Galway and Iceland as "very significant"

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Environment Minister Eamon Ryan has today described a new telecoms cable between Galway and Iceland as "really significant".

The ‘IRIS’ subsea telecoms cable will provide direct high-capacity links to Iceland with onward connectivity to Northern Europe via Denmark.

Sarah Slevin was at the cable landing ceremony at Ballyloughane Beach in Renmore.
