Galway Bay fm newsroom - €867 thousand was paid to hotels, hostels and B&Bs in county Galway, in 2018, for emergency accommodation.
That's up from the figure of 309 thousand euro which was paid to accommodation providers in the county in 2016.
According to the report, one Galway guesthouse invoiced nearly 20 thousand euro in 2017 for emergency accommodation services - a figure which increased to 130 thousand euro by 2018.
Figures released to Irish Independent show some guesthouses nationwide are making up to 740 thousand euro a year.
19 hotels in Dublin received over €1 million in 2019 for accommodating homeless people - with one hotel in the capital earning between four and five million euro over the period.
Meanwhile, the figures have revealed that 276 million euro was paid to hotel, B&Bs and hostels nationwide over a four year period.
