Galway Bay fm newsroom - Over €220,000 in funding has been allocated to the Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board to help tackle educational disadvantage and equip adult learners with new skills during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The funding is part of a national allocation of €5.8 million secured by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Simon Harris, TD, under the Mitigating against Education Disadvantage Fund.
Galway Senator Sean Kyne says the funding aims to help a range of community-based organisations from Gaeltacht and Island co-ops and community development groups to organisations working with older people and people with disabilities.
The 31 organisations in Galway and Roscommon will design and run courses to encourage learners to re-engage with education and training.
The funding will also help to provide the devices and software needed for education during the ongoing public health restrictions.
Senator Kyne says it's never too late to learn a new skill.....
