Galway Bay fm newsroom - Funding of €15 million has been approved for the transformation of the library at NUI Galway into a state-of-the-art 'library of the future'.
The project - which aims to create a major interactive learning facility - will be the first of its kind in the Irish university sector.
The funding of €15m for the transformation of the James Hardiman Library has been allocated under the Higher Education Strategic Infrastructure Fund.
It's part of a national pot worth €100m being shared by five colleges - NUI Galway, Maynooth University, UCC, UCD and IT Sligo.
