Galway Bay fm newsroom - There's been a 15 percent drop in new car sales across Galway.
The latest figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry reveal that between January and June, over 3,400 new cars were registered in the city and county.
This compares with over 4,000 during the same six-month period last year.
Nationally, new car registrations fell by 10 per cent in the first half of the year compared to 2016.
Nearly 91-thousand cars were registered by June compared to just over 101-thousand 200 in the first six months of 2016.
The number of commercial vehicles registered fell by 14 per cent to just under 19-thousand units.
Industry experts say an increase in people importing used cars from the UK after Brexit has contributed to the decline - imports were up 41 per cent for the first half of the year.
