Galway Bay fm newsroom - 256 residential properties - with a total value of almost 50 million euro - were purchased across Galway in the first two months of this year.
That's according to the latest data from the CSO.
The average price of the houses bought was 172 thousand euro.
The data shows a dip in sales compared to the same period last year.
In the first two months of 2016, 318 homes were sold across Galway with a total value of 51 million euro.
Nationally, residential property prices around the country jumped by almost 11 per cent in the year to February.
Director-General of the Construction Industry Federation, Tom Parlon, says it's not viable for builders to construct new homes in Galway.
