Galway Bay fm newsroom - Disappointment is being expressed over the decision to exclude schools on the Aran Islands from the Government's DEIS education programme for 2017.
The national scheme represents a set of objectives and supported actions to support children who are at greatest risk of educational disadvantage.
However, Choláiste Ghobnait on Inis Oirr and Choláiste Naomh Eoin on Inis Meáin are not included on the planned progamme for this year.
Islanders feel the exclusion is a failure to recognise the unique challenges facing students on Galway's off shore islands.
