Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway based disabled persons action group will hand a letter to the City CEO this hour calling for the appointment of a full-time Access Officer.
Representatives from 'Access for All Galway' plan to present the letter to Brendan McGrath at noon today, requesting the appointment and the full implementation of the Equal Status Act.
The group says there are more than 10 thousand disabled people resident in Galway.
It comes as today marks the International Day of Disabled People.
Access for All Galway founding member and long-term disability rights activist Marian Maloney says a coordinated effort is needed to make the city safer for disabled people.
