Director of Galway's MADRA Dog Rescue says combined effort needed to prevent animal abandonment

The Director of Galway's MADRA Dog Rescue says the UK and Ireland and the various agencies need to get together to prevent animal abandonment.

Dog re-homing charities from across Ireland and the UK have gathered in Belfast to discuss the current issues they face.

The cost of living crisis has resulted in an influx of animals being given up by their owners.

There has also been an increase in "pandemic puppies" with behavioural issues being surrendered.
