Delay in safety works at Kilmeen Cross until final decision on lighting

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Safety works due to get underway at Kilmeen Cross in Loughrea have been delayed until a final decision is made on the inclusion of lighting at the junction.

Campaigners have long sought the measure at what they describe as an extremely dangerous junction on the N65, several kilometres from the town.

While Transport Infrastructure Ireland has committed to extensive safety improvement works at the junction, it has not supported calls for lighting to be installed.

A letter of appeal has now been issued to TII.
