That's according to Supermac's Managing Director Pat McDonagh who says the US fast-food chain has conceded.

The decision could have been appealed up to the end of November but no appeal was submitted.

In July, the European Union Intellectual Property Office ruled that McDonald’s can now only use the prefix ‘Mc’ in relation to chicken nuggets and a single sandwich.

McDonald's had argued that it has the right to own the ‘Mc’ term claiming it’s synonymous with the company.

Speaking to Keith Finnegan on Galway Talks Pat McDonagh said this means any company that wants to use the "Mc" prefix in its name is now free to do so.
