Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Dáil committee exploring the future sustainability of rural communities in Ireland will this afternoon hear from the head of a Connemara community care facility.
The Committee on Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs is tasked with exploring measures to develop, strengthen and grow rural communities.
This afternoon, the joint committee will hear from Peigí Uí Cheidigh of Tearmann Éanna, a community care facility located in Baile na hAbhann in South Connemara.
The committee is holding a series of hearings with rural organisations nationwide on the measures necessary to develop, strengthen and grow rural communities.
Tearmann Éanna provides social and health facilities and consists of a health centre, 20 social housing units, and sheltered accomodation.
Peigí Uí Cheidigh will appear before this afternoon's meeting at Leinster House at 2.15 and proceedings can be viewed live on the Oireachtas website.
