The CSO has revealed that agricultural land was most affordable across Galway, Mayo, and Roscommon in 2023.
Nationally, over 60,000 acres were sold, a decrease of 2.5 percent on the almost 62,000 acres sold in 2022.
The median price per acre increased by around one thousand euro in 2023, with the average now just over €9,000.
The highest volume of agricultural land was sold in the West region last year, but more money was spent in the South-West.
This is due to a higher average price per acre in Cork and Kerry, with 96.2 million euro being spent on over 10,000 acres across those two counties.
Meanwhile, 13,637 acres changed hands last year across Galway, Roscommon and Mayo, at a total cost of 72.8 million euro.
On the other end of the spectrum, just €1.8 million was spent on 127 acres in the Dublin region.
