The President this morning addressed the City Council at a civic reception held in her honour at City Hall.
In her speech to the 200-strong crowd, she made strong links between Galway and her home city of Rijeka, which will share the European Capital of Culture 2020 title.
President Grabar-Kitarovic has this afternoon been given a tour of the Galway 2020 Community Hub at the Cornstore in the city.
Following her address and Q&A at NUI Galway, her schedule will conclude with a local food demonstration to mark Galway being the European Region of Gastronomy 2018.
