Galway Bay fm newsroom - Three local electoral areas in Galway have Covid-19 incidence rates well above the national average.
Galway City Centre has a rate of 221 per 100 thousand population, followed by Loughrea at 194, and Ballinasloe at 174.
They're all well above the national average, which currently stands at 148 per 100 thousand.
Other areas in Galway are below the average - the figure for Tuam is 141; Galway City East is 109, Athenry-0ranmore and Galway City West are both 79; and Gort-Kinvara is 38.
Meanwhile, Connemara North and South both have an incidence rate of less than 5 cases per 100 thousand population.
Nationally, Tullamore is the highest in the country, at 484, closely followed by Dublin's north inner city and Longford LEA.
Sligo-Leitrim TD Marian Harkin believes the government should consider regional restrictions in the coming weeks.
