County wide speed limit review back on table following brief suspension

A review of speed limits on roads across Galway is back on the table following a brief suspension.

The review, underway since last year, is an extensive undertaking involving input from local councillors and communities.

But it was paused following the announcement of national speed limit reviews in response to the high levels of deaths on the roads this year.

But at County Hall this week, Councillor Martina Kinanne said too many areas across Galway are in desperate need of speed reductions and cannot afford to wait.

Council management confirmed the review is now back on the table and will run parallel to the national review, and changes on the ground will be looked at early next year.

Councillor Kinnane outlines some areas in particular where she wants to see speed reductions in the near future.
