Galway Bay fm newsroom - The entire county, including Connemara and the islands, is to be treated as one lot of the purposes of the SICAP programme from 2018-2022 despite strong opposition.
The City and County Council are seperately seeking tenders for the administration of the Social Inclusion and Community Activiation Programme for the next five years.
It follows controversy over the decision to treat the entire county as one lot.
FORUM Connemara had raised concerns for the future communities in Connemara as a result of the decision.
SICAP aims to tackle poverty, social exclusion and long-term unemployment through engagement with disadvantaged individuals, community organisations and public sector agencies.
The deadline for submission of tenders to the County Council is September 29th.
