Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Ballinasloe councillor has called on Galway County Council to make a formal submission voicing its opposition to the Land Development Agency Bill 2021.
The Bill to set up the agency contains a number of clauses which would deprive councillors of their veto on land transfers relating to the new agency.
Councillor Evelyn Parsons argues the removal of that veto would have potential long term implications for local authorities in delivering social and affordable housing on local authority land due to the extensive remit of the LDA.
Councillor Parsons says she understands the ideals of the bill, in terms of providing social and affordable housing.
The Independent councillor says local authorities would be better placed to provide these services if they were given the resources to do so...
