The Cathaoirleach of Galway County council has called on the attendees of Wednesday's controversial Oireachtas event in Clifden to apologise to the people of Galway and the country.
The gathering took place at the Station House Hotel in Clifden on Wednesday night, just 24 hours after new COVID-19 measures were introduced to stop the spread of the virus.
The event has led to high profile resignations and apologies from those in attendance.
Independent Councillor James Charity says Galway has been dragged into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons by the arrogance of the Fianna Fail led government.
Cllr Charity says the event further highlights the mixed messages sent out earlier in the week with the introduction of further Covid-19 restrictions across the country.
The Independent councillor says he's received numerous calls from constituents expressing outrage over the event.
